Joseph's Garden

Joseph's Garden

UPDATE: Unfortunately, due to the remodel of the school playground, Joseph's Garden is temporarily suspended until a new location can be found.  If you are interested in partnering with Joseph's Place to grow produce for our pantry or if you know of another community group who would like to partner with us, please feel free to contact Marcus Ebenhoe at 585-254-3221 x127 or marcus.ebenhoe@dor.org.  Thank you!

Joseph's Garden opened in the spring of 2015 as a partnership with Foodlink as a way to bring more healthy fruits and vegetables into the neighborhood. It is volunteer run and all of its harvests are given away through Joseph's Place food pantry.  Many of our Joseph's Place guests have volunteered at the garden as a way to give back to the community for what they have received. Each year we harvest hundreds of pounds of produce. We have grown a variety of crops including:

  • tomatoes
  • cucumbers
  • zucchini
  • yellow squash
  • collard greens
  • lettuce
  • basil
  • kale
  • beets
  • green beans
  • peppers
  • eggplant
  • and more!

We recognize that some of these foods are new to people so we have partnered with Foodlink to do food demo's and provide cooking instructions to ensure no food is wasted.

Interested in joining the team?

No experience necessary, green thumbs and brown thumbs welcome!
