The Cathedral Community: Funeral Planning
DUE TO COMPLICATIONS FROM THE COVID 19 VIRUS, FUNERALS HAVE BEEN PAUSED AT THE CATHEDRAL COMMUNITY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
AS OF NOVEMBER 25, 2020, THE CATHEDRAL COMMUNITY IS IN A DESIGNATED "ORANGE ZONE" AS MANDATED BY THE NYS GOVERNOR'S OFFICE. AS SUCH, A MAXIMUM OF 25 INDIVIDUALS CAN BE INSIDE THE CHURCH AT ANY GIVEN TIME. THAT NUMBER INCLUDES THE CELEBRANT, THE LECTOR, MUSIC AND CANTOR PERSONNEL, STAFF WITHIN THE CATHEDRAL, FUNERAL DIRECTORS, AND FAMILY.
During the continuing pandemic, it has been necessary to make several adjustments to the Funeral Service including the seating in church, the number of participants present, proper physical distancing, the wearing of masks or cloth coverings, the number of readers, the suspension of the presentation of the gifts and the prohibition of congregational singing. In addition, special procedures will be announced for the reception of Holy Communion that follow Diocesan norms at the present time. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
We recognize that the death of a loved one is painful, and the Cathedral Community supports you as you grieve the loss of a loved one. Christ’s peace, as you grieve this important loss.
Using the following link, please print and complete the Cathedral Community: Funeral Planning Guide. The Funeral Planning Guide will ask you to select Scripture Readings for the Funeral Service. The Funeral Scripture Readings tab in this section will allow you to view each reading that is available for selection (one from the Old Testament, one from the New Testament, and a Gospel reading). Once you select your readings, please note them on the Funeral Planning Guide.
